Parallel Port or LPT

Originally called LPT, the Parallel Port is an interface in a computer system where data is transferred in parallel. It has been replaced by the USB port, and is considered to be a legacy port

The ExpressCard is the successor to the PCMCIA Card and is produced in two form factors: ExpressCard 34 (34 mm wide) and ExpressCard 54 (54 mm wide, in an L-shape)

USBG-EX-LPT is an ExpressCard/34mm based parallel expansion add-in adapter to provide a fast connectivity solution for today's Notebook PC systems. It provides one ultra-high performance bi-directional parallel port for most of the parallel devices.

The ExpressCard provides a scalable, high-speed, serial I/O bus that maintains backward compatibility with CardBus applications and drivers. Its architecture defines a high-performance, point-to-point, scalable, serial bus at speed of 250Mbytes/sec.

The USBG-EX-LPT equipped an IEEE1284 compliant SPP, EPP and ECP parallel port that fully supports the existing Centronics interface. For legacy applications, the Plug&Play ExpressCard resources have been arranged so that the parallel port can avoid from any system I/O resource conflict.

With its complete hardware and strong OS support, the USBG-EX-LPT is an ideal upgrade to support all Parallel-compatible devices for the rapidly changing mobile computer to preserve user's investment in Parallel interface.

For Systems with at least one 34mm or 54mm ExpressCard Slot, bandwidth 250Mbytes/sec

Fully ExpressCard Standard, Release 1.0 compliant.
